I try to teach age-appropriate skills to my kids both because everything we do is working towards making them independent and responsible adults when the time comes and because they usually like it (at least so far. I know that will end at some point and I will be sad). This week we have been working on Joshua peeling his own banana. He already can slice a banana, but now he has also learned to take the peel off. I do cut the top for him to get him started because I don't think he is ready to cut something firmer with a butter knife yet, but he has enjoyed this a lot.
