Party Prepping with Pigs and Poms

We try to limit the amount of time the kids have in front of screens to a reasonable amount. Sometimes we let Joshua play with our tablets (my iPad or Meghan's Nexus) for a little while. The first time we let him explore on his own, it didn't take long for him to look at the icons for the apps and identify Angry Birds as something that looked appealing. He launched the app, started playing the game, and loved it. There are a couple other apps he sometimes likes, but for the most part if he is allowed some time on a tablet, he wants to play "Angwy Birds". It took him a while to learn how to shoot the birds at the right angle and in the right direction, but once he figured that out and was able to use the birds to smash into the pigs and their defense structures, it only made him love the game more.

We decided not to have a big bash for Joshua's third birthday party and instead just have a small party at home, but we still wanted to have a theme, so we decided to go with what he loves and do an Angry Birds theme. Today is the day before the party, which is always exhausting for us with all the things that need to be done. Most of the decorations are already done.  I really like these poms that Meghan made, and I think they'll be a key part of the décor for tomorrow's party.

We still have a few things to do tonight.  Meghan is upstairs working on a craft project that will be one of Joshua's gifts, and I'm decorating an Angry Birds cake that I hope will be awesome. So far I just have the characters (made out of fondant), but by the end of the night I'll have a finished cake.
